New Stake in Solola!

4/17/2018

WHAT UP world!

Here we are in Bendita Guatemala where we just got news from the first presidency that after 40 years, District Solola is going to become a stake!!!!! Everybody here is SUPER pumped- so on May 13th and 14th a general authority is going to come down (We're hoping for one of the 12, but we're about 3 hours from anywhere so we'll see what happens) and we're gonna become an ESTACA!!!! The district president pulled us into the office Sunday, and asked if Elder Salazar and I would help him put together a stake choir so I'm going to play the piano, and Elder Salazar will lead the music!!! We're all super excited!!!!

This Sunday we were blessed to have the baptism of David Moises Rodriguez Rodriguez!!! He's an ex member of the 18 which is a really bad gang in Guatemala, but it has been such a blessing to see his life change completely with the help of the gospel!!!
The culture in the mountains of Guatemala is really interesting. Most of the people speak Kakchiqal, an ancient Mayan language and wear Corte, also ancient mayan clothing. They are born the way they are, and die the way they are. Change has no part of who they are. It makes contacting really difficult as well as teaching investigators because even if they recognize that what we teach is true, they can't bring themselves to make the change to what the Lord wants them to do. In the church recently, there have been a lot of changes. Are we willing to be meek like Elder Bednar taught, moldable and submissive to what the Lord wants us to do? Or are we so set in our ways that we won't change even if the truth hits us in the face? I challenge all of you to be able to recognize and submit to the will of the Lord, and to let Him who knows all to guide us in our lives!!!

I love you all, sepan que ixka jokowan, mati'osh awa'h nana!!
