Baptisms

We had a pretty great weekend in Barcenas Guatemala! Elder Velez and I were able to have the baptisms of Monica Carrillo, Anthony Morales, and Anji Cortee! The services were all really special and spiritual and it was such a blessing to be a part of 3 people entering the path to God's kingdom!

We've been keeping busy- last change the mission norm changed. The "standards of excellency" are now 1 baptism per week, 8 investigators  at church, 2 new investigators every day and 18 every week. So we've got a ton of people to be visiting and people to find! But we really have seen a lot of miracles. Yesterday we were walking in the streets and this guy ran up to us and said "Elders, I saw you yesterday in the bus and now I saw you again. There is no way this is a coincidence. Is there any way you could pass by my house tomorrow?" We were like, OK!!  So we showed up today. His name is Jordan Gomez, he's 17, and before going no his mission his friend gave him a triple. He's already read all of the Pearl of Great Price and a lot of the Bible. He's about to start the BOM, loves to read and has a ton of questions. Investigator de oro baby!!  I did splits outside of my area for the first time in almost 6 months! My zone leader Elder Davis had Chinkinguya, which they call the "broken bone disease." It's from mosquitos, and gives you a super high fever and all your bones feel like they are broken! Good thing mosquitos LOVE me!!

Everybody in Guatemala has been getting ready for 'La Semana Santa' or Holy Week. It's the week of the passover, and everyone is doing everything possible to be ready to celebrate. This year La Semana Santa falls right on General Conference. What are WE doing to be ready? Are we waiting and hoping we'll get something good out of it or are we actually preparing to have as incredible of an experience as we can? I was reading yesterday the parable of the sower. Some of the seed that was sowed fell on rocky or unprepared ground and fertile, prepared ground, 'brought forth fruit'. Let us all begin preparing ourselves now so that the word of God can fall on prepared minds, and like Alma 32, it can grow until it begins to be delicious to us!

Thanks for all your support and emails! Have a great week!
Elder Tadje
