Rodolfo Gonzalez's baptism, 50
Serfio Colindrez's baptism, 16
Journal entry from sept 3.
Today was a testament that the work goes on despite our many faults and imperfections. Last week Sergio Colindrez was supposed to be baptized. It fell through for some reason I don't completely know cuz it was all in spanish! Something with his cousin. But whatever it was, we didn't visit him once this week, and I'm pretty sure that we were about to completely drop him as an investigator. But we called his cousin Stuardo, and he said that Sergio still wanted to! So today, I was blessed with the opportnity to baptize Sergio Antonio Casia Colindrez! It was an amazing experience- extremely humbling but also very humbling. It really made me realize that all of these people are children of God, and deserve the chance to receive this gift. Christ doesn't give up on us, ever. No matter what we do. So we should never be too eager to give up on an investigator, especially when there's still a good chance that they could be baptized. Also- on my first day here in the field, I told president that I was scared I was going to come out here and fail. He told me something I'll never forget- if our will is aligned with the Lord's and we are doing everything we can to work towards that, HE WILL NOT LET US FAIL. These people are too precious to be lost because of some dumb decision or indecision of two 18-24ish year olds. He is always preparing people for us, touhing their hearts and putting them in our path. We just have to be worthy and searching. But when a person is ready, they're ready. And when God needs someone for his kingdom, He will prepare them- and everything has a way of falling into place. That's when we've gotta make sure we remember that this is His work, His glory and we are teaching His gospel. And these baptisms are His baptisms, not ours. We are just the imperfect tools he uses to help accomplish it. Something someone very close to me said- We are not perfect, but we are preaching a perfect gospel with the help of a perfect God.
Love you all, you're all in my thoughts and prayers!! Hasta next week
Elder Tadje
